EURO 2012 REVIEW: SPAIN 4: 0 REP. OF
IRELAND
The World
and European champion once again showed class against the Irish in a match that
saw the Chelsea talisman Fernando Torres score 2 goals with David silver and
substitute Cesc Fabregas both grabbing a single goal each.
The game was
never in doubt for the Spaniards from the beginning of the game with Fernando
Torres being the fastest to react to a loose ball then rounding a defender and
then putting the ball past Given, the Irish keeper could have actually done
better in the 9th min. Then, the Irish found their rhythm and got
back to the game but the game ended 1: 0 in the first half.
There was
little the Irish could do about the second goal with David Silva rounding a
couple of defenders before putting it past Given, the Irish would be grateful
to their goal keeper for keeping them in the game with some stunning save from
David Silva, Aberloa, Iniesta. But about half an hour, Silva pounce on a
scramble from the Irish defenders to set up Torres for the second of the Night
and was later substituted for Cesc fabregas who ensured the match was put
beyond any doubt with the forth of the Night.
Spain
currently sits in the 1st position with 4 points.
